MAHAL GULARA



This palace is situated about 21KM from Burhanpur on the east of village Singhkheda, on Burhanpur - Amravati road.Farooqi rulers developed this place in the form of a beautiful lake by constructing a 300 feet long wall surrounding the mountanious region near the river Utavli. When Shahjahan visited Burhanpur during his father Jahangir's rule, he fell in love with a beautiful dancer 'Gulara'. She was not only beautiful, but a good singer. Shahjahan was so impressed with her that he later married her. He constructed two beautiful palaces here surrounded by beautiful gardens and a water fall between them. The village was named after her name 'Mahal Gulara'.
