Our Vision
Brief Story
Some years ago, pastors of some
Brazilian churches began to consider before God the possibility of sending missionaries to
Europe, Africa and Asia.
After a visit to the United Kingdom, God gave to some of these pastors a vision of a
spiritual revival in the UK, which would have world-wide repercussions. They felt that
churches in Brazil could co-operate in the process of the restoration of the Church in the
U.K. It became clear that links between churches in these two countries needed to be
formed. After some meetings with British pastors, it was decided that they should
establish a base in the U.K. The first missionaries arrived in the United Kingdom in
January 1993.
Objectives and Phases
The main goal is to encourage local churches to work together in practical ways so that
other nations might be reached and blessed. The first phase is the establishing of mature
relationships with churches in the United Kingdom in order that mutual co-operation and
revival might take place. The second phase is making contacts for co-operation with
churches in other countries and then sending workers to the countries where God opens the
doors. The ultimate aim is to build up weak churches and establish new churches where they
are needed, especially in those places, such as Europe and the 10/40 Window, where there
are few or no live churches.
The Work In the United Kingdom
During these last four years, about 30 missionaries have been working with British
churches in England and Scotland. Many congregations from different denominations and
fellowships have opened their doors to receive them, and strong links were established.
The Brazilian missionaries have been speaking at churches in the 4 British countries
and Ireland, sharing at conferences, encouraging unity amongst leaders, traveling to other
nations with British teams and launching movements of fasting and prayer.
The Work in Other Countries
In 1994, two families were sent from the UK to Azerbaijan, as a result of a partnership
between a Brazilian and a British church. In 1995 another family was sent from London to
Lyon (France), and in 1998 a Brazilian family will be moving from Hereford to Germany.
There are families in Portugal, Spain and Japan, and the contacts with other nations have
been multiplying very fast. We expect to receive and send a large number of missionaries
from the UK to other nations in the next few years.
Teams with Brazilian and British people are going regularly to France and Germany,
building bridges and helping churches. There are plans to do the same for other European
nations.
How Go To The Nations Link Works
Go to the Nations is not a missionary organization, but just churches working together
in partnership. Everything is decided through the relationship between the sending church
and the receiving church. To facilitate these relationships, there is a steering group in
Brazil and another in the U.K.
The British Council is made up of 6 British leaders and 1
Brazilian pastor.
The missionaries are supported by their churches in Brazil, and the receiving church in
the UK offers house and transport. |
