Intercessors' Reports - Rome

Since the beginning Rome had been a matter of serious prayer, because nobody was able to receive the team of intercessors. However Pr. Joao Thomaz was persistent and finally we found two houses for a small team of three. One house belonged to a French pastor, who leads a Baptist church in the centre of Rome and the other is a none-Christian guy, who'd been an English student in Edinburgh and there had built a friendship with Joao.

We shared the vision of Go to the Nations with the Baptist pastor Carmine Arianzale, he then became immediately interested and invited us to share it with his church on one of their Sunday services. We also contacted some other pastors but only two other Brazilian church planters who'd been in Rome for 3 years gathered with us for prayer and sharing.

Praise the Lord, although we were a small group God spoke about unity, reconciliation and revival. At the beginning these things seemed so far away from their own understanding and experience, but we planted a seed and we could see enthusiasm in their hearts at the end. All of them were excited to hear about the purpose of the trip and opened themselves up to whatever God leads us to do in the future.

After one of these meetings we had a prayer walk with Pr. Carmine throughout the main spiritual places of Rome. It's so sad to see that of the cities 5.5 million people only 0.7% are Christians and only a few small churches. We walked, travelled on public transport for miles and miles every day and I just saw one or maybe two signs of evangelical churches in the city Paul desired so much to reach.

According to their opinion the churches are very disunited and very little is been done about unity. But something encouraged us quite a lot while there. We saw these guy's churches packed on Sunday, people coming to the front weeping, in deep attitude of humility and thirst for God. All of them are now talking about moving from their church buildings as soon as possible to larger and better premises
They all experienced a taste of the blessing and anointing of being in unity and are willing to keep on meeting to pray for each other and seek God's plan for Rome. They also showed a tremendous openness to receive Brazilians among them, to do whatever God leads them to do whether church planting or co-operation as long as it's talked and discussed in advance. Praise the Lord all the earth!!!
