 Intercessors'
Reports - London
Two of the largest cities in Europe, London
and Paris were visited by Gods mercy in a mighty way this October. God's transforming
grace was deposited to destroy strongholds of Satan over people and the communities of
these cities. In ten other major cities of Europe the story was the same, God's power
turning despair to hope, death to life.
Each day we prayed with hundreds of
intercessors from churches in London at the four gates of the city: north, south, east,
west and on one day in the heart of the city. The local leaders explained the history and
the spiritual significance of the places that we visited.
We had a tremendous time, having fellowship
together mixed race Brazilians with Londoners; black, brown, yellow and white, from
numerous ethnic groups, so many different social and cultural backgrounds, all serving the
same Lord, all members of the One Body. What a heavenly mix! Song's of praise in
Portuguese and English. Prayers in various languages and tongues ascending to the throne,
truly a Pentecostal experience.
An accord has been developed and reached that
establishes 1,000 houses of prayer (small groups of people that will commit themselves to
pray for their neighbours, work mates, etc) in each of the 33 London boroughs. It was just
wonderful to experience the openness to the word, deep desire for unity, thirst for
revival and renewal that the leaders in London demonstrated.
We asked God to bless the people of London,
crying out to God asking for his forgiveness from our sins: collective, historical,
personal. We declared the will of the Lord that "none should perish" and many
wept for those who are on the road to a lost eternity.
On Saturday the 4th we prayed at the Emmanuel
Centre on Marsham Street just four blocks from The Houses of Parliament, 27 of the 33
boroughs were represented and the Brazilian team prayed for our English brothers and
sisters who seek to lift up Jesus in each one of these municipalities where altogether
nine million people from most of the nations of the world live.
We were surprised and happy to take note of
the brokenness, the humility of the pastors and the people. We knew that this was a work
of the Holy Spirit and it humbled us to see how God was using us to bring hope and
encouragement to a sometimes doubting European church that has gone through a very tough
20th century. How was it that they were asking for and accepting help from "third
world" countries? It's because they recognise that spiritually Europe is "fifth
world".
The meetings in London were led by Roger and
Sue Mitchell, Flavio Guaratto and Ary (Harry) Scates. Stephanie Telles was the logistical
co-ordinator. Charier and Lunar Bernard did much of the leg work, taking care of
Brazilians as they arrived in and left the country.
