Timotea Brablova, Daniel Mazari and Lydia Kosperova

Marcos Barros Interviews Timotea Brablova (Grade 5 teacher) who speaks on behalf of headmistress Lydia Kosperova

Q. Could you tell us about the last 40 days of prayer and fasting that you participated in. What was the outcome?

A. Backtracking a little, the headmaster who founded the school was quite corrupt in his time here, particularly with school finances. Parents were badly hurt by this. He was also involved in the occult and tried to find ways to expel the Christian staff and impose foreign values upon Christian standards already established within the school. For this he approached the Ministry of Education and managed to obtain a deed to privatise the school. Things were not looking good. It was amidst these circumstances that we commenced the fast. A miracle follows... Our church prayed about this terrible school situation and for all the non-Christian parents that couldn't accept the gospel of Jesus. The fast brought about, many changes. Parents united together to appeal to the government requesting a change, not only regarding the school predicament, but towards various aspects of Slovakian legislation. What followed was a real miracle. The Ministry of Education retracted the deed originally granted to the former headmaster and instated Lydia Kosperova, a Christian and member of The Church under the Castle, as the new headmistress. The church was also legally permitted to govern the school. God's light was changing things!

It was a testing time for Lydia and the rest of the staff and the school was under immense pressure from non-believers who disagreed with the new changes, but in it all we felt a strong protection and knew that many prayers of intercession were being made for us by our brothers and sisters abroad. We felt strongly supported. Also, Lydia was being blessed with a special wisdom for this particular time and everything seemed to work out with God in perfect control. We are so thankful because we can see how mighty and powerful God is when churches from many nations co-operate together in unity.

Due to the school turmoil we lost contacts with England and America. This was a major problem since, being a bilingual school with subjects taught also in English, we needed English-speaking teachers. However, we experienced another miracle when, during the summer, two American teachers arrived to help us. We could now commence the new academic year without a problem. The Lord is certainly establishing his order here!

A Word from Daniel Mazari
(Pastor of The Church under the Castle)

We recognise that we were living old-fashioned lifestyles; set in our own religious ways and mindsets. The Lord wanted to change this. It was difficult experiencing his refining work but we now see that the Lord wanted to lift us to a new dimension, operating completely independently of our narrow-minded ways. God has broken through our feeble structures and we can clearly see the result of this period of prayer and fasting.

Revival and awakening have impacted our church and people are being encouraged to pray more and more. God has given us an increased measure of love and boldness to pray for churches and this is wonderful. People have been so enthusiastic so as to pray over and above prayer requests, being led by the Holy Spirit to bless abundantly. It is also a joy to witness reconciliation amongst other churches around the nation as, together, they pray against all the evil powers at work in the political scene and see such powers destroyed as a result - much to the amazement of many. For all this we give glory to God!
