God has blessed Goiania city. Today, about 40% of its 1½ million inhabitants have
become born-again Christians. Some local churches consist of thousands of members and
miracles are commonplace in everyday life.
In the last few months Goiania has been challenged to pray for Europe. It started when
Brian Mills visited the city last July sharing with several churches about the spiritual
needs of the European nations. Then God spoke to a member of the National Network of
Intercession (the head office of which is in Goiania) about involving the church of
Goiania in a project of prayer and fasting for 40 days.
This project was undertaken by the National Network of Intercession in partnership with
Go to the Nations and YWAM. It resulted in a booklet being published giving information
about the various European countries. 2000 booklets were issued. These ran out in a week.
Nevertheless, God's people answered the call. Several churches and prayer groups prayed
with only one booklet between members and at least 3000 people prayed and fasted for
Europe from August 11th to September 19th. God moved powerfully.
Everyday, faithfully at 5am, a Pentecostal church would pray prophetically, then, at
midday a Charismatic church would pray on, later, at 7pm, a church of an Historical
denomination would continue the prayers.
In October, as part of this project, 47 intercessors from Goiania went to the Go
To The Nations' conference in Manchester. There they met other intercessors from different
parts of Brazil thereby establishing an army of 180 soldiers who then spread all across
Europe in order to pray for those countries that God had placed on their hearts.
These intercessors are now back in Brazil, carrying in their hearts all that God wants
to do in Europe. They are inputting into their communities what they saw, heard and
received from the Holy Spirit, sharing God's vision for Europe with others and, in the
process, increasing the number of spiritual warriors for this warfare.
Both the 40 days of prayer and fasting and the intercessors trip are only the beginning
of a process of which God alone knows in how many blessings it will result.
